Milk and two sugars please! iDC creates another microsite for Viking

May was a busy month for us at iDC and one of the stand out projects we recently completed was for Viking, the UKs favourite stationery company. iDC worked collaboratively with the award winning, Birmingham based PR agency Smarts England to develop and build a campaign microsite called “The Great Office Cuppa”. The site featured an online survey system to find out if making a “cuppa” in the office helps you get up the career ladder.

The microsite also played it’s part as an awareness campaign, introducing Viking’s new brand which rolled out at the same time. In order to drive traffic to the site, we also created HTML emails which we’re sent out by Viking’s comms team.

All-in-all, the microsite was a great success and we are very pleased with the results. Take a look here.

Designs of the year 2011 – Design Museum

Designer coffins, edible books, balancing houses and angry birds were amongst the shortlist for designs of the year 2011. A very diverse range was on view at this year’s annual event hosted at the Design Museum on the south bank of the river Thames. Sustainability and efficiency continued to be high on the agenda whilst iPad apps continued their meteoric rise into the modern world of technology.

The overall winner being the Plumen 001 energy saving light bulb (seen below). Low-energy light bulbs have never been regarded as a stylish product, the Plumen addresses this by creating an aesthetic bulb designed to be seen, it also uses 80% less energy and lasts eight times longer than an incandescent bulb. iDC launches Waldrons Solicitors new website

iDC are pleased to have launched Waldrons Solicitors brand new website.

Founded in 1867, Waldrons Solicitors are a respected law firm that offers specialist legal services to individual and business clients across the West Midlands and Worcestershire.

iDC was invited to take part in a competitive pitch in November 2010 after the partners felt that their old site was no longer working for them. Shortly after the pitch process, we received the fantastic news that iDC were appointed to take the web project to fruition.

One of the main requirements of the new site was that it utilised a Content Management System (CMS), which would give Waldrons the freedom and flexibility to easily update online content in-house. With this in mind we built the website on the incredibly powerful and secure, ASP.Net CMS platform called Sitefinity. A globally proven platform that is used by a number of Fortune 500 companies like Coca-Cola, Mercedes-Benz and other renowned government, healthcare and non-profit organisations.

Other key requirements for the site was to make it visually engaging, incredibly easy to navigate, (allowing users to find relevant information in two clicks or less), and make it SEO friendly in every way possible.

The site is performing incredibly well and both Waldrons Solicitors and iDC are very pleased with the results.

BMW try their hand at humour for April Fool’s day

Well, even BMW has got in on the old April Fools day lark, by releasing a Royal Wedding special edition of their infamous M3 road car. You gotta hand it to them, as a brand that doesn’t really utilise humour to connect with audiences, this jocular flirtation breaks the mould for them and in a real sense reveals that BMW does have a funny side.

However, it does beg the question, did anyone actually fall for it? Well if you read the small print I think the contact email would have given it away. Made us smile at the iDC office though.
