When Ali was looking to set up a new and exciting casual dining chain of Japanese restaurants, iDC were recommended to him, he got in touch and that was the beginning of winning partnership. iDC conceived the brand along with a brand vision document setting out who was behind the brand, why there was a need, what the brand stood for and how it wanted to be portrayed by its customers. Selly Oak was Yakinori’s first store, cleverly located near Birmingham University’s young and open minded crowd. iDC worked alongside Abstract Visions to create an exciting stand out interior using full Japanese themed graphic walls that featured the bespoke Yakinori character illustrations that iDC commissioned from a Japanese illustrator.
The Selly Oak store flew and was quickly followed up by a second restaurant in Birmingham’s monumental Grand Central Station. With both stores flying, Ali set his sights further a field and with iDC’s help launched his thirds store on Bristol’s famous Park Street.
With the launch of his fourth flagship store in Solihull’s prestigious Touchwood Shopping Centre, Yakinori has all the right ingredients and brand appeal to see it become a well loved national high street chain and iDC look forward in continuing to help make it happen!
